Douglasville Public Safety Complex

The Douglasville Police Department is trying to do its part in curtailing the increase in youth violence that has plagued the community.

According to a recent Facebook post, one solution is to offer a free program for local youths.

The post states that the goal of the program is to “provide youth (13-19 years old) with a safe place to learn how to be successful, get along with others, take pride in themselves, and make the right choices”.

The 10-week course begins on June 10th at 10 AM at the Douglasville Public Safety .

The Complex is located at 2083 Fairburn Road, Douglasville, Ga.

Alice Jackson, De Wayne Martin, Irvin Summerville, will be facilitating various sessions as well as, Dr. Lloyd Shields (S.H.A.R.E House), and Pastor Hopkins.

In addition to the facilitators aforementioned, The Rising Men of Douglasville and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, DCP chapter will also host sessions.

Individuals interested in enrolling must arrive by 9:30 AM to complete the registration process.

Participants who complete the program will attend graduation on August 12th. Any successful graduate who needs to report their participation to the court must do so on their own. The program does not notify the courts, probation, or school system of a person’s participation.
