DOUGLAS COUNTY, G.A.- A mother has been arrested by police in the death of her toddler at Foxhall Resort. Uriha Ridge, 35, who currently is a resident of the county, was arrested by police on Jan. 16, according to a statement from the Douglas County Sherriff’s Office.

She has been charged with felony murder and cruelty to children police said in a statement.

Authorities say Ridge took her two small children Alina, 3, and an unidentified 7-year-old boy, into a wooded area behind the resort during freezing temperatures and rain.

It was through an investigation the sheriff’s office was able to determine that Ridge had been consuming illicit drugs before entering the woods with her partially clothed children at approximately 12 a.m.

It would not be until 11:51 a.m. the next morning that Ridge would call for help. Upon arrival, to the 8000 block of Cappsferry Road deputies immediately began to render aid to Ridge and her children.

EMS soon arrived on the scene and all parties involved were transported to a local area hospital.

Alina was pronounced dead at the hospital, due to injuries sustained while in the woods. The 7-year-old remains hospitalized.

Currently, Ridge is being held in jail without bond. Ridge’s next court appearance is scheduled for later in the week according to a press statement. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, in 2022 Ridge was charged with assault and cruelty to children.

At the time, the publication reported, Ridge was accused of beating her daughter who was two years old at the time.

A spokesperson for the department said that the investigation remains ongoing.
