fashionable person

A visionary designer, House of Couture Couture’s Brigitte Marie, started sewing and designing in 5th grade.

All was not always well, but Marie managed to turn her mistakes into one of a kind designs, thus beginning her designing career. Marie attributes her gift of design to being anointed for fashion by the Lord.

Inspired by Faith

It was her faith which inspired her to attend Bauder Fashion College to gain a better understanding of the ins and outs of fashion. It was there, where Marie learned how to drape on a dress form, sketch, and make unique patterns.

For Marie, Bauder Fashion College was an experience of a lifetime that afforded her many contacts and exciting opportunities in the fashion industry.

“When I bring my vision to life in my sketches, I am inspired by them. I frame my sketches and look at them often. It encourages me to continue creating.”

The production method that Marie uses to create her pieces is to first sketch out the design idea. Then she drapes her design on a dress form with muslin. After that she lays the muslin on pattern paper to make the pattern.

Next she cuts out her design on fashion fabric, and finally she sews it all together with her sewing machine.

Being a visionary designer, Marie gets so many ideas at once. Once she starts creating she can not stop so, she runs out of dress forms, then soon mannequins, and floor space.

Eventually, when her ideas start to cover the walls as well that is when reality kicks in and says: “Hello Brigitte! Finish them so you can create more!”

Through all of her success, highs, and lows Brigitte remains humble. She continues to give all the glory to God. You can find Brigitte Marie at her store and design studio, House of Couture Couture. The store is located at Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville, Georgia.
