Thailand was born out of a country that was once known as Siam In 1939. The primarily agricultural county is located in the center of mainland southeast Asia. 

Today’s Thailand consists of people with diverse religious, cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Chinese food is a popular sought after cuisine from the region, but that is slowly changing.  In recent years, Thai food has become the public’s favorite both in Thailand as well as across the globe.

In the United States there are thousands of Thai restaurants. Luckily for us, we have some of the best right here in Douglas County. 

A Taste of Thai is located across the street from Target, in the Douglasville Promenade. According to their Instagram, they have been open for business since 2003. Their menus offer a variety of meal selections.  Vegetarian dishes are also available for dine in or take out orders. 

If you are further south in the county, you may want to consider trying Thai Basil Cuisine, located at 921 Carroll Rd. Villa Rica. According to their website, this restaurant prides itself on having the freshest cuisine that is “made with the finest ingredients”. 

If you enjoy eating noodles, rice and curry dishes with plenty of fresh vegetables, Thai food is for you.  Thai food has tons of savory dishes made with pork, chicken and shrimp. The use of spicy, sweet and salty sauces are what makes the Thai food experience a truly unique one.
