Elena Meyers Taylor, the most decorated African-American Winter Olympics athlete in the world returned home to Douglasville, Georgia. Taylor is on the USA Olympic bobsledding team. Taylor is a five-time Olympic medalist in the bobsled.

The welcome home celebration took place at Arbor Place Mall on March 18. Lithia Springs Comprehensive High school’s band participated in the ceremony honoring the Olympian. Douglas County Board of Commissioners and news media outlets were in attendance. Local residents lined up to take a photograph and to receive an autograph from the champion.
