Earlier today, the Douglasville Police Department issued an information release regarding the second murder that has taken place in Douglasville within the past week. The incident involved the fatal shooting of an unnamed 17 year old male yesterday, near Malone St and Hwy 92 .

According to Douglasville’s Police chief Gary Sparks, two suspects “were taken into custody Tuesday night.” The suspects, Lakeisha Blakely and her 17 year old son Joshua Blakely face multiple charges. Some of the charges levied against Joshua Blakely are murder, aggravated assault, as well as possession of a stolen firearm according the the release.

Chief Sparks also stressed that “the victim and suspect had “some type of relationship” prior to the murder”. However, no details about what led up to the shooting were provided by the department. The investigation is still ongoing, Sparks said.
