On January 22, the Douglasville Police Department provided an information release regarding the shooting of a three-year-old boy. According to the release, the shooting occurred on January 21 at the Intown Suites in Lithia Springs, Ga.

The release states that 23-year-old Devante Porter and 29-year-old Jermecia Martin have both been charged with aggravated assault, Cruelty to Children 2nd degree, Reckless Conduct, False Statements, and Tampering with Evidence.

In the comments section of the police department’s post, a woman identified herself as Dasha Scott the young victims’ aunt. She asked for prayers for her nephew and her sister, the child’s custodial parent who was not present during the incident. Lisa Scott also stated that she is the grandmother of the three-year-old. Ms. Scott said that her grandson “has a loving mother and a bunch of family members that love him”. She also requested that people “keep her family in prayer”.

Other posts indicate that the suspects are the victim’s father and his girlfriend (who is of no relation to the Scott family). The family has set up a gofundme account to help “raise money to assist with medical and all other expenses needed to assist with the care”.
